The Candidate of Perpetual War
It’s the morning of the last day on our major drive to fund Nader media. We are cranking through our tasks with one eye on the progress toward our goal tonight. Just past $77,000. Please jump in now and raise us up.
We need a big day from you. If just 1,000 supporters give $25 each, we’ll make it. And make it we must.
We’re in the home stretch. The pressure is on to amplify the Nader/Gonzalez message. We need you to donate now so that you will be heard, so that serious issues might have a chance to be seriously heard.
It’s time to stand up and be counted — once again. To ask others to stand up. To get the message out.
"The candidate for perpetual war"
That’s how Ralph Nader refers to John McCain. McCain’s repeated calls for "winning" the illegal war in Iraq — by continuing the killing, continuing the maiming, the brain damage, continuing the corporate war profiteering — have earned him that moniker.
We won’t even get into Iran and McCain’s not-so-veiled threat to use nuclear weapons against that country.
But the news media reports on McCain’s implicit promise of more carnage, more twisted metal, more grieving parents as a simple policy statement.
Barack Obama has no traction here with undecided voters. He’s stated that he will continue to conduct Bush’s illegal war in Iraq — just for less time than McCain. And Obama has pledged to follow a McCain-style recipe for long-term war in Afghanistan.
We need you to donate now, so that we can get some simple words to leap off the page and into videos:
Words about how John McCain has voted against the interests of veterans.
Words about how McCain wants to plump the bloated military budget with your money (so does Obama).
Words about how McCain wants to reduce corporate taxes by 30% and create more corporate tax shelters.
Words
about how McCain soaks up campaign money from Wall Street investment
houses and hedge fund managers (oops, so does Obama).
Words that speak to people from the people’s candidate, Ralph Nader.
Please donate now. Fire us up — fire yourself up. Find some undecided voters and get ready to send to them the media that you helped create.
Remember, if you give $100 or more now, we’ll send you three DVDs — the Denver rally, the Minneapolis rally, and a special debate DVD. (Three DVD offer ends September 4 at 11:59 p.m.)
The first one — the DVD of the Super Rally in Denver — featuring Sean Penn, Tom Morello, and Cindy Sheehan — will be shipping next week.
So, let’s move it up and send it in.
Onward to November
